Elise Fixing ceramic table

Custom Hand-Painted Ceramic Tile Tables

Even though she has two babies, Elise took on an extra art project for the Bamboo Woman Tea Room featured in the TV show and book Flip That House with FAUX. She designed, built, and rebuilt two tables. Elise cajoled her friends, family, volunteers, the artists, and and their children to handpaint ceramic tiles.

Elise Fisher making ceramic tables

After working at the Faux Flip, she would go home and fire the tiles, which meant that she had to wait up for the kiln. Then, Elise applied a sealer to the tiles. She had to make every other tile for the tables herself so the hand-painted tiles would not compete with each other.

The reason Elise had to rebuild the tables is because her mother, author Jeanette Fisher, moved them before they were set and the tiles popped off. The black grout looked great on her hands—especially the second time.
